Why Purchase Prints from Tonal's Corner?
Fine Art Quality
Each print is a fine art piece, meticulously shot and edited to reflect hours of dedicated work. I ensure the highest quality and artistic value in every image. These images are printed on Photo Rag Baryta.
Fair Compensation for Models
I believe in paying models for their contribution to sell prints. Anywhere from 10-40% of the sales for each image go directly to the artists. This commitment to fair compensation ensures that the individuals who help bring these images to life are paid for each item that sells. The goal is to sustain my art practice not to unjustly profit off the shared labor of the artwork.
Limited Edition Products
To disrupt capitalism and minimize waste, each image is limited to 66 products, and 33 signed products, for a total of 99. This limitation not only adds exclusivity but also aims to reduce landfill waste. While I don't expect to reach this limit for every image, it stands as a testament to my values.
Images with Limited Faces
I intentionally sell images where the person(s)/model(s)’s face is/are not fully visible. This choice provides a degree of separation between the subjects and the real world, respecting their privacy, for such largely circulated images. As I learn more about archival work and consent, it is crucial to honor the individuals who have graciously sat for these portraits by limiting the ways these are produced and shared.
Images with recognizable faces are sold exclusively at shows and galleries that feature my work.
Supporting a Small-Owned Business
By purchasing from Tonal's Corner, you are supporting a small-owned business, me! My name is Tonal (tuh-nawl), I am a portrait and editorial photographer whose work focuses on queerness, gender expansiveness, community, and how together they tell the story of Black liberation. It is my hope that through these images they make you feel, not a specific feeling, but the feelings that are buried deep down.
Supporting Black and Brown Artists/Creatives
Through the purchase of even just one print, you are not only acquiring a piece of fine art but also supporting multiple artists, limited edition artwork, thoughtful considerations around privacy, and a small-owned business dedicated to meaningful and impactful storytelling.
